Our Courses

At EKS, we plan to offer a variety of courses designed to prepare students for service in ministry, interpretation and missionary work. Our initial program is for all undergraduate and graduate students. This is our commitment to God's Word and to each student concerning academic rigor and superior, biblical training.

Our unique, initial academic program is called the Trained Disciple (T.D.) Certificate Program. These courses will challenge students to think outside their cultural assumptions, placing Holy Scripture as the foundation for all rational thoughts, academic research and moral principles. Students will become better thinkers, writers and disciples for Jesus Christ. The program includes the following eight (8) classes:

Bible Interpretation & Worldview (BI 100 & BI 500): This course will train the student to properly interpret Bible passages, both the clear and the difficult. The material will address how crucial Bible interpretation is to a sound, evangelical worldview. Passages covered include soteriology (salvation), sanctification (growth), and ecclesiology (church identity). This course will require assignments on interpreting verses in context, teacher interaction, student discussion, analysis, and a final paper.

The New Covenant (NT 100 & NT 500):

This course will focus on the structure and purpose of the books of the NT, including Hebrews, and the fulfillment of the OT. A more detailed study of the Gospels takes place in NT 101 / NT 501. This course will require writing assignments, teacher interaction, student discussion, analysis, and a final paper.

The Gospels (NT 101 & NT 501):

This course will train students to exegete the Gospels as one Harmony of testimonies on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Messiah. There will be a focus on rightly interpreting the Gospels in light of the later foundation of the Church. Students will exegete the Gospels in light of NT life, standards and commands. This course will require writing assignments, teacher interaction, student discussion, analysis, and a final paper.

The Old Covenant (OT 100 & OT 500): This course provides a Christ-focused approach to the OT, emphasizing salvation history that begins and ends with Jesus Messiah. The student will analyze the purpose, witness and apostasy of the Israelite theocracy (under the Old Law) from Sinai to the Second Temple Destruction. This course will require writing assignments, teacher interaction, student discussion, analysis, and a final paper.

Genesis: Creation to Christ (OT 101 & OT 501): This course explores the book of Genesis that establishes the historic foundation for the rest of the Bible. Students will analyze apologetic issues (such as evolution, racism, globalism and immorality) and the reliable accounts of these Scriptures from Adam to the Messiah. This course will require writing assignments, teacher interaction, student discussion, analysis, and a final paper.

Bible Research Methods (BI 101 & BI 501): This course will introduce students to hermeneutic tools for accurate Bible interpretation and apologetics, as well as skills to teach the Bible one-on-one or in a group. The student will learn simplified Greek and Hebrew alphabets, and methods for effective word studies in Bible study and teaching. This course will require open-book examinations, writing assignments, teacher interaction, student discussion, analysis, and a semester-long research project.

Christian History & Mission (CH 100 & CH 500): This course will survey the purpose and application of the Bible-believing Church throughout evangelical Christian history. Starting with the Apostle John and Justin Martyr, to the Reformation and the worldwide Missions movement. Topics will include gospel victories, church persecution, historic evangelism, and Bible preservation and transmission. This course will require writing assignments, teacher interaction, student discussion, analysis, and a final paper.

The Church & The Last Days (NT 103 & NT 503): This course will study as one unit the books of 1 and 2 Thessalonians and Revelation, along with other key Bible passages from the OT and NT. The student will be challenged to discern and define what the texts plainly and consistently teach on the Day of the Lord, the holy nation of God, end times deception, and the one, blessed Return of Jesus Messiah. This course will require writing assignments, teacher interaction, student discussion and analysis, and a final paper.
